Nyanza Leaders in a Closed door meeting with Uhuru and Raila
Nyanza region leaders had a closed door meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga in Yatch club, Kisumu.
The meeting is said to be a consultative meeting where the President will have a chance to meet and engage with the leaders.
The main agenda of the meeting is still not known however, BBI is said to be one among the many agendas.
The leaders who were present in the meeting include four governors from the Nyanza region, senators, women representatives, members of parliaments, deputy governors and MCAs.
According to a report by the star, the president and former prime minister arrived some minutes after 10 am.
The governors present included Anyang Nyongo (Kisumu), Okoth Obado (Migori), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya) and Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay).
They were accompanied by their deputies. Speakers present included Elisha Oraro (Kisumu County Assembly) and Siaya’s George Okode.
MPs who are also in attendance are Fred Ouda (Kisumu Central), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) and Aduma Owuor (Nyakach). Kisumu Senator Fred Outa is also in attendance.
Media was however locked out of the meeting.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will later on be expected to inspect projects in Kisumu that have been funded by the national government.
Some of the projects include the Ksh 3 billion Kisumu port, the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo ASK Grounds and the ongoing construction of Uhuru Business Park.
